This statistic shows the results of a survey on Arab youth's perception on the Middle East's relationship with the United States, as of February 2016. A 23 percent share of the respondents stated that they consider the United States as an enemy.
Do you consider the United States an ally or an enemy?*
* The original survey question was stated as follows: "Do you consider the United States a strong ally, somewhat of an ally, somewhat of an enemy, or a strong enemy of your country?"
The countries covered by this survey were Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and Yemen.
The survey did not include Syria due to the ongoing civil war there.
Respondents were exclusively comprised of citizens of the countries outlined above, with 50% male and 50% female respondents.
The margin of error for this survey is +/-1.65 per cent.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates had 300 respondents. Iraq had 250 respondents and Palestine had 150. Each remaining country had 200 respondents.
The majorty of respondents were from urban areas.
