The change rate of steel production was approximately 7.7 percent in fiscal year 2023. It was a decrease from the previous year's 16.6 percent. Steel industry was one of the eight core industries of the country. The eight industries had a combined weight of around 40.27 per cent in Index of Industrial Production (IIP) that year.
