Considering the sale rankings, Honda was the leading motorcycle company in Italy in 2017, with 50 thousand units sold, followed by Piaggio (31,217). The market share of Honda reached 23 percent in 2018, followed by Piaggio, holding 15.4 percent in the same year.

The motorcycle manufacturing industry is one of the leading Italian industries, representing Italy across the world. In June 2017, Italy exported motorcycles and power-assisted cycles to the value of about 167 million U.S. dollars.
