This statistic shows the average claim size of private home content insurances in the Netherlands from 2011 to 2016 (in euros). In 2016, the average value of a claim was approximately 875 euros. In the Netherlands, the property, or "fire", branch covers insurances for both contents (in Dutch: inboedelverzekering) as well as buildings (in Dutch: opstalverzekering) and comes the closest to what in the United States is more commonly known as renters insurance or homeowner insurance. The casualty and property segment (commonly known in Europe as non-life insurance) is smaller than the life segment in the Netherlands. In 2015, ABN Amro Schade had a revenue in gross written premium of approximately 254 million euros, making it the leading property and casualty (non-life) insurance company in the Netherlands.
