In 2023, 31 percent of books read or listened to by Norwegians aged nine to 79 years old were audiobooks, marking an increase from 2021. Print books remained the main format readers in Norway engaged with, though audiobooks were more popular than e-books.

From 2017, survey conducted online, before conducted via telephone interview 2019: 15 years and older Counts from previous years may differ.Â
The survey question in 2021 changed to: "Think of the formats of the books that you read (or listened to) in 2021. How big was the share of books that you read in the different formats. Distribute 100 points/percent." The source shows share of e-books read in Norwegian, English or other languages.
