The number of caesarean sections conducted in Italy decreased to 131,388 surgeries since the previous year. In 2020, the number of caesarean sections thereby reached its lowest value in recent years. Notably, the number of caesarean sections is continuously decreasing over the last years.

According to Eurostat, this includes the number of deliveries by caesarean section in general hospitals. Data on caesarean section include only inpatient cases, day cases are excluded.
