A survey conducted in Italy in 2018 showed that 22.73 percent of firms with ten to fifty employees experienced more than ten cyberattacks in a year. The same was reported for companies with 251 to a thousand employees.
A cyberattack is the deliberate exploitation of computer systems, technology-dependent enterprises and networks. Cyberattacks use malicious code to alter computer code, logic or data, resulting in disruptive consequences that can compromise data and lead to cybercrimes, such as information and identity theft.

The source adds the following information: respondent companies are divided as follows 43.7 % are companies up to 49 employees, 22.6% are companies between 50 to 250 employees and 33.6 % are companies over 250 equally divided in three branches, 251-1000, 1001-5000, over 5001.
