In 2023, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) increased its revenue by around 200,000 Danish kroner compared to the previous year to around 4.13 billion kroner.
The license financed company DR
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation founded in 1925 is a public service organization financed through taxes. It provides a wide range of different programs via television, radio, as well as online services. Until the end of 2021, the company was funded by media license fees on behalf of the Ministry of Culture. The ensuing revenue was distributed among, inter alia, DR, TV 2, regional TV and radio companies, and the Ministry of Culture.
DR’s offer
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation is the second most popular TV family in Denmark, behind TV 2. Its television channels’ audience share amounted to 28 percent in 2022. Aside from the six TV channels, DR offered eight national and ten regional radio stations, as well as the internet platform dr.dk and several apps.
