The Mexico Peace Index ranks states on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the most peaceful. The index comprises crime, violence, and policing indicators. In 2024, Colima received the worst score with 4.74 points, followed by Baja California with 4.42 points. On the other hand, Yucatán was considered the most peaceful state in the country that year.
States with the lowest peacefulness index in Mexico in 2024
The indicators included in the Mexico Peace Index are homicide rates, violent crime rate, organized crime rate, justice system efficiency, weapons crime rate, police funding per capita, crime reporting and detention.
The index allocates a score from 1 to 5 based on the performance of states in the above factors. A score closer to 1 indicates the state is more peaceful than states with scores closer to 5.
