Private companies were responsible for the majority of new homes built in England in 2022. Housing completions in the UK overall decreased for three years in a row between 2007 and 2010, followed by several years of fluctuation and a gradual increase from 2013 to 2018. In 2022, there were over 178,000 new dwellings completions, which was higher than in 2007.
