The number of positron emission tomography (PET) scan examinations conducted in Finland increased by 102 scans (+2.37 percent) in 2022. While the number of PET scans increased significantly in the first phase of the observed period, the increase slowed down in the last years. PET is a highly specialised imaging technique using short-lived radioactive substances. This technique produces three dimensional images which are used mainly for the assessment of cancer spread in a patient's body.
