In 2022, there were over twice more permits for residential buildings in Flanders than in Wallonia. In 2022, the construction of over 21,000 buildings was authorized in the Belgian region of Flanders, while that figure only amounted to 146 buildings in the Capital Region of Brussels. The permits issued for the construction of housing in Belgium as a whole decreased in 2022.
