The number of both holiday and business trips in Italy declined significantly in 2020, due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2020, the number of holiday trips lasting four or more nights reached approximately 19.5 million, decreasing from around 35.2 million in 2019. Meanwhile, business trips by Italian travelers dropped by roughly one-third, passing from nearly 7.8 million in 2019 to 2.5 million in 2020.
