The annual spending on travel by residents of the United Kingdom (UK) to the European Union for holiday purposes has increased significantly over the period from 2011 to 2019. UK holidaymakers spent a total of around 26.5 billion British pounds on visits to the EU in 2019. This was based on the total number of holiday visits made to EU countries over the same period. UK spending on vacation travel to Europe as a whole was naturally higher.

Estimates based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS). Interviews are conducted with passengers arriving and departing from the country and include visits for all purposes, including for vacation, business, study, visiting friends and family, and other leisure purposes.
The data for 2019 was produced using a new improved estimation method. Figures from 2009 to 2018 shown here have been revised according to the new method. The impact of the improved methodology can be viewed here.
