In Denmark, the number of victims of crimes peaked in 2016 and 2017, when more than 80,000 victims were registered. However, the number decreased over the next years, dropping to around 60,000 in 2020 and 2021, the low numbers being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the number increased to nearly 68,000 victims. The number of victims generally follows the number of reported crimes in Denmark.
