In the school year 2022/2023, girls generally constituted the majority of the total students enrolled at general schools. In particular, in social sciences general schools they represented more than 80 percent of the enrollments. On the contrary, boys were a vast majority in vocational schools and in technological technical schools. Licei Musicali and economic technical institutes were the most gender-balanced schools, with an equal distribution between female and male students.
