In 2020, there were approximately 195 thousand physiotherapists employed in Germany. This is a significant increase from the year 2000, when there were around 78 thousand physiotherapists employed in the country. Nine percent of people in Germany say they visit a physical or occupational therapist at least three times a year. Overall, 23 percent of those in Germany will visit a physical or occupation therapist at least once a year.

Across the same time period, the number of physicians in Germany has increased by over 30 percent resulting in approximately 371.6 thousand employed physicians in 2021. Additionally, the number of practicing nurses in Germany has also increased by around 30 percent between 2000 and 2020, to approximately one million nurses in 2020.
