The number of TV viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Sweden declined from 2022 to 2024. Roughly 2.45 million people watched the last broadcast on May 13, 2022, when Loreen represented Sweden in the music competition show in the UK. By contrast, the number of viewers amounted to about 2.38 million in 2024.
Where to watch the ESC?
The ESC is broadcast on the public TV channel svt1 or online on svt Play. Also, the national preliminary round of the European Song Contest Melodifestivalen is organized by the Swedish public service broadcasters. Notably, Melodifestivalen is more popular than the Eurovision Song Contest itself.
Sweden’s success at the ESC
Together with Ireland, Sweden is the most successful country at the Eurovision, with seven wins between 1956 and 2023. In general, the Nordic country ranked in the highest places in all recent years. In 2023, Loreen was the last Swedish winner of the competition show.
