Luxembourg: incidences of terrorism 1983-1994

This statistic shows the number of terrorism-related incidences which occurred in Luxembourg from 1983 to 1994. There have been 16 separate instances of such behavior recorded throughout the years. The peak was in 1985 with ten instances of terrorist behavior. Overall the number of worldwide terrorist attacks has been declining over the last ten years, with 11,774 recorded incidences associated with terrorism in 2015. In 2014 the number of terrorist attacks in Europe amounted to 290, accounting for 2 percent of all terrorist attacks made worldwide during that time. In contrast, incidences of terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa accounted for more than 40 percent of all attacks made. However, in accordance with data regarding changes to travel plans as a result of terrorist activity, awareness of terrorist attacks have led many Europeans to change their travel destinations. Luxembourgers made up the largest share of those who have changed their plans, with 12 percent citing terrorist threats as the main reason they had decided to travel elsewhere.
