In 2020, approximately 2 million Belgians were employed in the tertiary sector whereas roughly 1.8 million Belgians were employed in the quaternary sector.

In Belgium, around 49 thousand people were employed by the primary sector which involves the retrieval and production of raw materials in 2020. Furthermore, the second sector, which involves the transformation of raw or intermediate materials into goods, employed 955 thousand people.
