From 2012 to 2022, there were more men than women receiving unemployment benefits in Sweden every year. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of recipients increased sharply in 2020, reaching close to 179,000 male recipients and 162,000 female. In 2022, the number of unemployment benefits were back to pre-pandemic levels, reaching nearly 118,000 male and 110,000 female recipients.
