Walmart's operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions totaled 14.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2022. Direct scope 1 emissions accounted for just over 50 percent of Walmart's operational emissions that year, with onsite refridgerants the biggest contributor. Walmart has set the target of reducing its absolute global scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 35 percent by 2025 and 65 percent by 2030 from 2015 base year levels.
