To 'be happy in life' was considered the most important goal for parents with an average of 64 percent of parents ranking it among the top 3 most important. In France, 86 percent ranked the same goal in the top 3.

Figures are based on those collected from Ipsos MORI for HSBC.
Interviews were conducted in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the US.
Parents were asked to rank the 5 goals shown. The percentage shown is the share of parents that ranked that goal in the top 3.
