Figures from previous years are based on earlier publications by the source. Starting in 1993, figures account for the whole of Germany. Starting in 1995, figures underlie a change in calculation and are only partly comparable to the previous years.
The source indicates that only small size chocolate formats up to 2 kilograms were considered; does not include "chocolate-milk-crumb", chocolate glaze and other loose cocoa products.
