According to the research incorporating various factors into the prosperity score, the most prosperous region of the UK was the city of London, with a score of 0.81 points. South East and Eastern England followed with 0.61 and 0.47 score, respectively. Least prosperous was North East, with 0.21 index points on the scale.

The source defined the research in a following way: "The Barclays UK Prosperity Map is new research that uses factors including average annual pay, business survival rates, the percentage of households giving to charity and exam scores to generate a unique ‘Prosperity Index Score’ for each UK region." Scores per region, gleaned from official data – including GDP, employment, enterprise figures, household spending and number of millionaires.
