This statistic displays the results of a survey comparing the average television viewing time per day of smart TV owners and non-smart TV or traditional TV owners in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2015. The survey found that smart TV owners spent more time in front of their television sets than traditional TV owners, at 3.7 hours per day on weekdays and 4.8 hours per day on weekends. Both smart TV owners and non-smart TV owners spent more time watching TV on weekends than on weekdays.
In contrast to a traditional television set, a smart television set, also referred to as connected TV, is equipped to access the internet and offers users additional features on top of traditional television functions, such as watching internet TV, using on-demand video streaming services and accessing other online media. As of 2016, the household penetration of smart TV sets in the United Kingdom was 28 percent, an increase of 16 percent compared to two years earlier.
