Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from consumer travel presented a trend of growth, despite some oscillation. Between 1990 and 2018, figures increased by approximately six million metric tons, peaking at 68.3 million metric tons in 2005. By 2018, carbon dioxide emissions attributable to consumer travel expenditure amounted to 65 million metric tons.
