The distribution of charitable donors by gender in Canada saw an increase in the importance of female donors from 1997 to 2020. In 1997, in fact, about 42 percent of charitable donors in the country were females, while by 2021 this figure increased to 49 percent.

Charitable donor is defined as a tax filer reporting a charitable donation amount on line 340 of the personal income tax form. Charitable donation is the allowable portion of total donations, as reported on the income tax return.
