The return on investments of property and casualty (P/C) insurers in Canada decreased overall from 1990 to 2019, albeit with fluctuation. Return on investment peaked in 1991, when almost 11 percent was reached. In 2019, the return on investments of Canadian P/C insurers had decreased to 3.6 percent - up slightly from the previous year. The return on investments of P/C insurers stood at 1.7 percent in 2018 - the lowest point reached during the period under observation.
