Research and development expenditure as a share of GDP in Spain 2000-2021
In 2021, the expenditure on research and development in Spain reached approximately 1.43 percent of the country's GDP, the highest value reported in the last two decades. While the expenditure on R&D as a share of the Spanish GDP oscillated over the years, it increased by over half a percentage point compared to the year 2000, when it represented 0.88 percent of the GDP in Spain.
