With 51 establishments, the province of Quebec had the highest number of distilleries in all of Canada as of December 2023. Manitoba and Prince Edward Island had just two distilleries.
Spirits retail in British Columbia
In the fiscal year of 2021/22, retail sales of spirits in British Columbia amounted to a record high of roughly one billion Canadian dollars. Some of the favorite types of spirits bought and sold in the province included whiskey, vodka, and liqueurs.
Canada vs. other spirit markets
In 2022, total spirit revenue earned in Canada amounted to some 9.3 billion U.S. dollars. Canada had the eighth largest market worldwide that year, placing the country right between France and Germany. The countries with the largest spirit markets by far were China, followed by the United States.
