Overall, the annual turnover from the manufacture of prepared animal feed in Norway increased from 2009 to 2021. The turnover of Norwegian manufacturers of prepared animal feed has more than doubled over this period, showing the first signs of true growth in 2010. While the total revenue was about 16.4 billion Norwegian kroner in 2009 and 20 billion kroner in 2010, it amounted to about 41.6 billion Norwegian kroner in 2021.
As there are more than 700 thousand cats and more than 400 thousand dogs in Norwegian households, the demand for animal feed is there. But contrary to the pet food manufacturing, the retail sale of pet food and pet animals fluctuated between 2008 and 2020, showing a rising trend since 2014.
