The number of e-money transactions made in Spain plummeted between 2009 and 2014. In that period, the use of e-money declined from 37 thousand transactions to zero. From 2014 onwards, e-money transactions remained constant up to 2019. Beginning in 2020, e-money payments started to grow, reaching 217.93 million in 2023.
