This statistic illustrates results of a survey conducted among enterprises in the services sector in France in 2014. It represents a balance of opinion regarding the impact of internet sales on margins, number of customers, employment and physical selling points' activity. In terms of margins, results show that enterprises in the accomodation sector had a rather negative opinion on e-commerce with a balance of opinion of -7 points. However, regarding the number of customers, the balance of opinion among these same enterprises was +58.

* According to the INSEE, a balance of opinion is defined as the difference between the proportion of respondents having expressed a positive opinion and the proportion of respondents having expressed a negative opinion. For instance, if 20 percent of responding enterprises declare that e-commerce had a negative impact on their activity, whereas 10 percent declare that it had a positive impact, the balance of opinion will be -10.
