This statistic presents the share of Italian and German adults, who consider provision of help to other family members (financial and otherwise) to be their responsibility, as of 2014, by duty performed. Approximately 87 percent of Italian and 56 percent of German adult children consider helping elderly parents to be their responsibility. A much smaller share of people actively saving money to hand down to their children after death consider it to be a responsibility: 27 percent in Italy and 16 percent in Germany.
