Assets of all financial institutions in Spain 2002-2016

This statistic illustrates the value development of assets (financial assets when available, otherwise total assets) for all financial institutions in Spain from 2002 to 2016. It can be seen that the total assets of Spanish financial corporations increased overall during this period, from a value of more than two trillion U.S. dollars in 2002 to a total value of over 4.7 trillion U.S. dollars as of 2016. Although this was the case, the largest value recorded in the period under observation was the year 2009, at the onset of the global financial crisis, when financial institutions in Spain held assets totaling approximately 7.2 trillion U.S. dollars.
