As of May 2022, around two thirds of respondents in the United Kingdom (UK) signed up for a mobile contract that included a handset. Roughly one third opted for a SIM card-only contract. It is common for handsets to be sold at a considerable discount if they are purchased in combination with a mobile phone network contract. Mobile phones and smartphones tend to sell at high prices without a contract.
