In 2015, Clash of Clans was identified as a leading mobile game title based on worldwide revenue. A year later, Clash of Clans revenue reached 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, 200 million more than its 2016 spin-off, Clash Royale. The highest grossing game in this ranking is Puzzle & Dragons, first released on the market in 2012. The game's developer, GungHo Online reported net sales of 112.5 billion Japanese yen in 2016 (approximately one billion U.S. dollars).
