This statistic displays the proportion of individuals who scored 4 or more on the general health questionnaire which indicates psychological disturbance or mental ill health by gender, in the years 1995, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 in England. In the year 2000, 13 percent of men and 18 percent of women scored 4 or more on the general health questionnaire-12, which indicated they were either psychologically disturbed or had mental ill health.

For women: n(1995)=7186, n(2000)=4922 In 1995 and 2000 no weighting was added. Since 2003 onwards data has been weighted for non-response.
