Coal production in the European Union amounted to roughly 3.3 exajoules in 2023, a decrease of around 18 percent in comparison to the previous year. During the period in consideration, figures presented a trend of decline, with a total production decrease of 4.44 exajoules, and 2023 being the year with the lowest figure.
