In the United States, a quarter of adult day center users were diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Whereas in other long-term care (LTC) settings such as hospice, LTC hospitals, or nursing homes, the share of users/residents with dementia was even higher, at around 45 percent.
Meanwhile, half of patients in inpatient rehab facilities, LTC hospitals, and nursing homes had depression. In comparison, those using adult day centers, hospice, and assisted living communities had much lower rates of depression, but still around 25 percent.
