Employees as full-time equivalents (FTEs). 
Contract staff are not included. For adult day services centers and residential care communities, aides refer to certified nursing assistants, home health aides, home care aides, personal care aides, personal care assistants, and medication technicians or medication aides. For home health agencies and hospices, aides refer to home health aides. Social workers include licensed social workers or persons with a bachelor's or master's degree in social work in adult day services centers and residential care communities; and medical social workers in home health agencies and hospices. Percentages are based on unrounded estimates. Percent distributions may not add to 100 due to rounding. 
This statistic is based on about 68,150 paid, regulated long-term care services providers serving about 7.3 million people in the United States. Long-term care services were provided by 4,100 adult day services centers, 11,400 home health agencies, 5,200 hospices, 1,200 inpatient rehabilitation facilities, 350 long-term care hospitals, 15,600 nursing homes, and 28,900 assisted living and similar residential care communities.
