According to the report, those responding with "easy" to the survey question gave a score of 7 to 10, with "neither easy nor difficult" a score of 4 to 6 and with "difficult" a score of 0 to 3. The mean score among respondents amounted to 7.65, which shows the overall experience of switching energy suppliers in the UK is in the "easy" range for consumers.

*The original survey question was worded as follows: "Thinking about the last time you [switched/tried to switch] your [electricity/gas/gas or electricity] supplier, overall, how easy or difficult would you say it was to [try to] switch your account to a new supplier?"
Base included all those with mains gas and/or electricity, those who paid energy bills, who have either switched or tried to switch their energy supplier in the last 12 months.
