Since 2009 many high profile retail brands have gone into administration in the UK, with the media declaring such times as the 'death of the high street'. According to the report's analysis, a total of 72 percent of stores in the UK are still occupied, whether by the original owner or by new occupiers following administration.

* 'Original' refers to shops occupied by the original owner. 'Occupied' refers to any other occupied status, such as stores re-occupied following administration. Figures were calculated by the source using a large sample of data (5876 properties) from the Local Data Company and the impact of stores entering administration from 2009 onwards (27 administrations). The results should therefore be used with care when considering beyond the scope of the sample.
