This survey, conducted in the United States in 2012, shows the share of fathers staying at home or working, by age group. In 2012, 33 percent of fathers in the 35-44 years age group in the United States were stay-at-home parents.
Share of fathers staying at home or working in the United States in 2012, by age group
Based on fathers aged 18-69 with their own (biological, adopted or step-) child(ren) younger than 18 in the household. Fathers who live apart from their children are not included. Fathers are categorized based on employment status in the year prior to the survey.
