Market size of the mobile gaming in China 2015-2023
Domestic market
Between 2015 and 2018, the domestic market accounted for over 70 percent of the revenue generated by China’s mobile gaming industry and was estimated to remain so over the coming years until 2022. In the context of the overall gaming industry of China, the share of sales revenue earned within the mobile games market shot up to 68.5 percent in 2019. However, a decline in the annual growth rate of this market was recorded between 2017 and 2018 with a difference of 35 percentage points.
Overseas context
Meanwhile, China’s overseas market of mobile games also experienced a decline in its annual growth rate. The revenue from the overseas market, however, is expected to rise to nearly 80 billion yuan by 2022. This would thus result in an approximate three percent increment of the international market’s revenue share by 2022.
