This statistic presents the results of a survey among 2,236 U.S. consumers. The survey was conducted online by Harris Interactive in January 2014, asking the respondents to describe their course of action in the event of food recalls due to health- or safety-related issues. Some 60 percent of U.S. adults who belong to the Baby Boomer generation (aged between 49 to 67 years) stated that that they would temporarily buy another brand than the recalled one until the product is safe again.

Percentages may not add up to 100 percent due to rounding. The original question ran as follows: 'If you learned that a food was recalled due to health or safety concerns, which of the following best describes the course of action you would take when you learned that this product had been recalled?'
