As of 2023, there were 1,414 state-owned star-rated hotels in China, accounting for approximately 20 percent of the total star-rated hotels in the country. The number of star-rated state-owned hotels decreased considerably over years. In comparison, there were more than 10,000 such hotels in China in 2012 and around 8,000 in 2018.
