The deadliest conflict involving a state in Asia in 2022 was the war in Myanmar between the Government of the country and the National Unity Government in Exile (NUG). Nearly 1,300 people were killed in this conflict. The second most lethal conflict in the region, the conflict between the Government of Afghanistan and the NRF killed 555 people. The conflict between the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistani branch of the Taliban (TTP) caused the third highest number of fatalities that year.
