This statistic shows the proportion of men and women aged 16 to 64 contributing to private pensions (private sector workplace pensions and private sector individual personal pensions) in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2011/12 and in 2012/13, by pension type. In 2012/13, 28 percent of the women and 28 percent of the men were contributing to private sector workplace pensions.

'Workplace' (employer-sponsored) comprises any company or occupational pension scheme run by an employer; 'individual personal' includes individual stakeholder pensions and retirement annuity contracts. Percentages have been rounded to the nearest 1 percent. The estimates are based on sample counts that have been adjusted for non-response using multi-purpose grossing factors that control for tenure type, Council Tax Band and a number of demographic variables. Estimates are subject to sampling error and remaining non-sampling bias.
